TreeHugger on Political Correctness

I always learn from Tree Hugger ,this time that I was being politically incorrect in my use of dates.  Interest found me browsing through the linked Article Can Yogic Philosophy Save the Planet? as I couldn't think of any possible way it could and in the text   reference was made to the Third Century CE which puzzled me and sent me off to Wiki to further my journey of self-enlightenment. There I found to my horror that my education in a country school with a picture of the Queen on the wall and religious instruction on Fridays had not prepared me for the Brave New World of political correctness. AD ( Anna Domino) meaning the Year of Our Lord is now to be replaced by CE which means Common Era and BC ( Before Christ) is now BCE  or before the common era. I suppose if we can accept calling a manhole a personhole ,we can accept anything.

  1. When Patajali set out his Yogic Piliosophy 1700+ years ago, you could pitch your tent almost anywhere.
Try that today and the XYZ Common Era Nazi Ranger will move you along quick smart.
I guess it is nice to spend a few minutes each day looking inwards for peace, quiet and a direction to towards inner contentment. As to those "simple joys of life", unfortunately "a walk on a beach" - no, the turtles are nesting. "biking thru a park" - no, you'll be arrested for perving" or "hiking in a national forest" - just been resumed for the indigenous folk, seems to take most of the gloss of living in such a Common Era.
I shall have to sit and think about this some more!

  2. Of course this is a common theme in greenie mythology of the noble savage wandering through Elysian fields communing with nature with soft music playing. The reality of disease, famine and natural disasters which have been largely overcome by the technology they despise completely eludes them. That and the problem of the Nazi Rangers of course.
