ANY bid to get households to reduce their environmental impact via the carbon tax is doomed to fail as long as incentives are not being offered, a new study shows.
Swinburne University Professor Peter Newton, who examined the behaviour of 1200 Melburnians, found that beliefs in climate change meant little in practice, with hardcore environmentalists and climate change sceptics in his study using the same amount of energy and water.
